Umbraco Upgrade

Umbraco Upgrade

On September 30, 2023, Umbraco 7 will be End-of-Life. This means it will no longer be supported with security patches, and we no longer recommend hosting sites on this version.

Since v7, Umbraco had been on a major road map of ensuring cms is inline with the Microsoft latest .NET Core technology. .NET Core is written from scratch to make it modular, lightweight, fast, reliable, and cross-platform Framework. Umbraco CMS has also been written from scratch to utilise all these benefits.

DigitallyMedia has been managing & hosting 100+ Umbraco Websites across all versions. We have noticed that running websites on Umbraco 11 are faster & more consistent. You will not experience hosting issues like site being slow or going down due to memory leakages.

We have experience in inheriting solutions developed by other companies, where – following a code review of your solution – we provide ongoing maintenance, new-feature development, and Umbraco upgrades.

Any Umbraco Clients who are on lower version of Umbraco should upgrade to v11.

Our study of Umbraco websites across the globe have shown that:-

v7 26 %

v8 70 %

v10 3 %

v11 1 %

We guarantee your Site Upgrade

Frequently Asked Questions

  • It’s not possible to jump directly as there are a lot of changes required when moving from Umbraco 7 to Umbraco 11.

Upgrading your Umbraco 7 website requires the correct strategy and guidance. It requires a process to be followed to move to .NET Core and get your Umbraco site to version 9 and this is where developer support can be beneficial to ensure Umbraco migrations and upgrades are as seamless and stress-free as possible.

  • The data structures, such as how nested content is treated, are different in Umbraco 11. In the Umbraco 8 release cycle, Umbraco created the Block List, which is an updated data type to the nested content that allows editors a better experience when modifying the nested elements.

Umbraco 11 has introduced The Block Grid data type which combines the Block List from Umbraco 8 with the grid, so editors can visualize the look and feel of the page, while also allowing complex blocks to be placed anywhere in the grid.

  • Whether your website is on WordPress, Joomla!, Drupal, TYPO3, or none of the above, we are ready to seamlessly migrate your current website to the Umbraco CMS. Our Umbraco migration process works for other CMS platforms too
