Challenges

  • This website was built in 2018 on Umbraco 7.10 and since then it just required some adhoc development.
  • Client has been adding Blogs during this period but frequency has been reducing over the years.
  • Content has also been mostly static for some time; client was thus gradually losing traffic.

 

Our Approach

  • We moved the site to our Umbraco support plan to start with Umbraco Upgrade; providing hosting solutions and offering SEO assistance to fulfil the site enhancement.
  • We reviewed the website and ran few tools like Screamingfrog, Google Search and Google Analytics, Log Viewer to note down the initial problems.
  • We added all the issues and our enhancement suggestion on the Trello Board and distributed into monthly tasks.
  • We started with quick maintenance tasks to ensure crawlers can scan and index website properly. 
  • We upgraded the site to Umbraco v13.

The site is now 2.5x times faster, reliable, flexible and has optimized SEO owing to the below measures taken by us as part of the Umbraco support.  It is generating better traffic and conversions for the client. Our ongoing support plan will ensure that the website remains up-to-date all the time and keep gaining on digital impressions and  better conversions.

Umbraco Upgrade

Insight on the project lead us to roll out an Umbraco Upgrade to v13.4. We also added new Umbraco features that were initially missing from the website; including the latest SEO optimization technique.

Moved site to our Azure Hosting Platform from their existing hosting as Azure Hosting is more aligned with Umbraco technology and is faster, scalable, quick website availability.

Azure Hosting & Umbraco Upgrade together has made site fast & snappy. It is around 2.5x faster and performs really well when site traffic is high.

Flexible Layout

In Umbraco 13, we have moved them to Flexible layout so that home page is dynamic and can be changed quickly as per client's needs without the help of a developer.

SEO Optimised

As part of our SEO service, we have added Meta Tags for social media, Microdata Data Schema tags, Sitemap, Error page, Image optimisation, Speed optimisation etc. to improve the search engine rankings for the site.

Mail Delivery

Started using Mailgun to improve the email delivery to the clients
